All the lives that were saved and families benefited due to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs. As Victor Davis Hanson noted, the bombings must be considered in context. 50 million died due to Nazi and Imperial Japanese aggression and hundreds of thousands more would have died if those bombs were not used. We should keep those numbers in mind.

What Obama and Rhodes should read before going to Hiroshima https://t.co/0C3XXWteNr— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) May 10, 2016
I'm surprised Meade's not here, either complaining that you showed a swastika or associating with people who used a nuclear weapon on civilians. Never know what the SJW's will find offensive these days.
ReplyDeleteAs for Obama, the only reason to go to Hiroshima is to apologize. If you don't apologize, then you are the victor walking on the grave to say, "you deserved this". In the context of the war, which would mean being in 1945; it was deserved. But even our soldiers and sailors at the time showed enough dignity than to visit the site and proclaim their victory. They also had no intention of saying they were sorry for stopping Tojo. Even Tojo understood, when took responsibility prior to his war crimes tribunal.
You are correct...on all your points.
DeleteHalf the Japanese Army was still on the mainland of Asia, mostly in China. In addition to the reduction of the Home Islands, reckoned to cost a million casualties, no less than 3 US Armies would be required to liberate China and Korea. Dropping those bombs saved innumerable lives - most of them Japanese, but our proud ignoramus doesn't care.
