Barack Obama's False Factoid About Mass Gun Deaths In America Needs To Be Refuted

Instapundit had this link to this study (via the Crime Prevention Research Center). The CPRC does not take funding from the NRA or gun manufacturers. Death Rate
"This type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency."
Barack Obama on Thursday, June 18th, 2015 in remarks at the White House
Frequency-of-Mass-Public-Shootings-in-Europe-and-US-2009-to-2015

Even pro Democrat sites admit that Barack Obama's statements on this are over stated.  They selectively cull data  and still can't support what he is claiming.  See here at the Washington Post and  PolitiFact (which gives Barack Obama's statement a "mostly false" status).

The good news is such deaths are rare both in Europe and the United States.  Still, when they do happen they are shocking and disturbing. Democrats are gearing up to make a very emotional drive on gun violence and deaths.

While we suspect this will not prevail (this country has been exceedingly pro firearms, especially in the South and most of the West), emotional appeals are powerful and obviously Democrats think (via polling trends) that they can persuade some people to restrict gun rights.  The troubling part is nothing Obama is proposing would have stopped these mass shootings.

Regular Right Guy: If a Muslim shoots a cop on the street and Obama isn't around to hear it, does it make a sound?

  1. The important thing is only 2.4 million people tuned into listen to his nonsense. He couldn't draw 1% of the nation to listen to his ideas of doing something that ultimately is meaningless. He said one truth, nothing he will do will make a difference. Well, as with Obama sort of true, because everytime he speaks about guns, more people buy them and make the country safer (as seen by the decline in shootings, as Tara Kyle pointed out to Obama).

  2. This has been known for years, if not decades.

Like every other Lefty, when facts don't back him up, he lies.
