I read somewhere that everything (and I do mean eeevvverything) was supposed to be dyed the same color.
PS FWIW, women shaving under their arms is only about 100 years old. Wilkinson Sword, the same people who lately have encouraged women to "mow the lawn" - and buy their razors to do it, made a big push right before WWI to make women think it's cool to shave under their arms - for the same reason.
