Partners for Peace? Palestinian Leader Abbas and Arab League refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist…

How can Israelis make peace with this position from the Palestinians?
Palestinians are becoming more hard line.  Yet we can be sure Kerry and Obama will argue Israel needs to be more flexible.

  1. The so called "Palestinians" know full well there will be no peace without mutual recognition. They do not want peace. Peace would disrupt their source of power...in particular the leadership of both Hamas and Fatah factions.

It hasn't changed one iota since 1948, 1967, 1973, et al. 73% of the original British Mandate of Palestine, designated officially as the "National Homeland for the Jews", was previously (1922) segregated, by the British, in to Trans-Jordan under Hashemite (Saudi Arabian) royalty...today's Kingdom of Jordan. The Arabs living in Jordan are majority "Palestinian" and the PLO even tried to rebel against the government there until expelled in the Black September War 1970-71. In short, nobody wants them. Hell, I live in a 90+% Arabic neighborhood in the USA and the Palestinians are barely welcome among the majority. About the only time they are is when someone needs a rally point for some parade or a weak minded individual needs to burnish what they think are Arab bonafides. Many I've spoken with are all for Palestinians...just not in their homelands, let alone next door here. Sound familiar?

As an ethic group the "Palestinians", no more a previous country than would be what is called "The Levant" either...have been obnoxious trouble provoking guests in several places: Jordan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt (given that Gaza was Egyptian until 1967) etc. You'll note Egypt did not object to not being given Gaza back when it was freed from Israeli control.

I have a few friends in Israel, and one of them has a great blog for news and cultural things Israeli...I recommend her highly: http://anneinpt.wordpress.com/ She provides a realistic "taste" of Israel today and the politics therein as well, without being offensive in any way. Honest intellect. I know of none better covering her homeland.

  2. Good thing the Israelis don't depend on Palestinian recognition for anything.
