I highly recommend this movie... It is not the greatest science fiction movie, but it is very well done.

The book is a classic of science fiction and young adult books. Without spoiling it for those who have not read it, (as Wombat notes) the film closely tracks the original material (with Reader's Digest edits for time).

I just watched this movie by myself on Saturday night. I would have taken the bride, but she hates space sci-fi, so I went by myself. It was awesome, no one to bother me and ask me questions, I could just watch at my leisure and enjoy the movie and it was fun for me. I thought the movie was great and well done. The effects were pretty good too. The Command School scenes were intense and even thought I knew what was going on in the movie from the books, it was neat to see the plot reveal itself and the reactions from it. I hope there is more sequels from this movie. Makes me want to read the whole series over again.
