Two North Korean submarines have gone missing...

This started off at typical NoKo saber rattling, but it is starting to escalate into something far more serious...

A NoKo espionage submarine that ran around in South Korea in 1996

NoKo is again threating nuclear attack on the United States.  Drudge has a bunch of links.

While we would like to think this is just NoKo trying to shake out some monetary concessions out of the West (and that may be what is going on) it could quickly get out of control.  But hey, given how competent the Obama Administration has been in the past in dealing with breaking crisis, such as Benghazi, what could go wrong?

Update:
Glenn Reynolds has this link on why U.S. airpower freaks the NoKos out.  And it should, it has awesome capabilities.  We should be at least gravely concerned by the NoKo low technology.  Because while crude, and probably exaggerated, it will probably work to cause some significant damage and death (and of course the danger of nuclear escalation only becomes higher).  And while this scenerio of China being a big winner in the event of full war is false, it is safe to say their would be no real winners if the NoKos went full out (and the biggest losers would be the Korean people, north and south).

  1. China is massing its military along the North Korean border. China also had a naval training exercise with the US & South Korea as the target.

The US is deploying strategic bombers to that area. The 7th Fleet is still in Yokusoka Japan. It is the same situation that led to Pearl Harbor: adversary demands lifting of sanctions, then follows through with threat on an unprepared US.

This time the consequences could be WWIII.

    1. I agree this is exceedingly dangerous...or as the Chinese curse says: "interesting" times.

    2. I disagree. Son_of_Liberty has a poor grasp of history. Recommend reading this book: Two Ocean War by Samuel Eliot Morrison. Just having that in your personal inventory as a library will aid you in knowing the truth behind the American entrance into WW II.
