I do not agree completely with this list of the 11 most important guns*, but some of those firearms Popular Mechanics picked are obviously very important.
I wish this one had made the list:
While not at all common, and not a firearm, this particular air rifle may have played a critical role in history.
And this rifle, had it been widely adopted by either side, could have arguably changed the outcome of the Civil War (either in ending it sooner or changing the outcome). And it obviously made a big impact on the frontier.
