Breaking: Hillary Clinton takes responsibility for the lack of security in Benghazi, Libya...

Hillary Clinton says she was responsible for security decisions in Libya:
"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru, for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, was the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.
This is interesting.  This Libya story is seriously hurting Obama's reelection chances.  Hillary Clinton was resisting being throw under the bus earlier.  I wonder what the back story is on Hillary taking the hit.

Update:
Ace notes Hillary is blaming some underling staff.
TOM notes Hillary dove on the Benghazi grenade...

The more I think about it, the smarter this move is.  Why defend the indefensible?  She acts bigger than Obama.  Win or lose for Obama, in four years she comes off better by doing so.  And the Democrats cannot blame her for scuttling the Obama Administration.

DatTechGuy:  Smartest move of the political cycle...
This is why this is bad news for Obama...
Gay Patriot:  Hillary did not resign and Obama is the one who looks weak...

  1. Note, Evil Blogger Lady, that the Clintons recently purchased the records from the DLC, the party-within-the-party that built Bubba's initial favor-bank to where a middling governor from Arkansas could win the White House.

Please also note that (according to Wikipedia) Hillary will be 68 in 2016 .. so probably a tad old to run credibly. (too much of the granny mcbotox look...)

Perhaps the Clintons are planning on "retiring" into the role of elder statespeople of the Dems... That explains both moves.

    1. By taking blame, she elevates herself above Obama. She also guaranteed this is an issue tomorrow night. Does this really help Obama? Not as much as it helps Hillary.

  2. The public debate, like the original story that was floated, is disgusting. Its only goal seems to be deciding which set of lies will be agreed to as the final story.

  3. Further point, EBL .. Obama blaming this mess on Hillary is just as tacky as Hillary blaming this mess on some random underling...

Hillary has handed Romney the pointy "buck stops here" skewer.

What this cat will be watching is whether Bill keeps campaigning for Obama. I expect the commercials in the can to keep getting air, they'll be fresh enough for what, 3 weeks? .. but I doubt we'll see new commercials or speechifyin' from Bubba.

    1. I suspect there is a riff with Obama and the Clintons.
