Because you can only get Christmas Time if the government (presumably) brings it to you first...
and all your faults and prejudices will fall away if you get your Christmas Time in town...from the government.
Yes I get moved by the story of neighbors getting together and sharing their bounty and stripedly candy. But the underlying theme of the government setting this into motion bothers me.
Okay. Maybe I am reading too much into this. Ayn Rand supposedly hated the Robin Hood legend because he stole from the rich to give to the poor, but I always took Robin Hood to be a hero, fighting against corrupt government officials who were over-taxing the hard working English yeomen. Robin Hood was just stealing back private property that had been stolen by Price John and the Sheriff.

I know, I know, I should not be negative, I need a couple of more stiff eggnogs and a hug. Hey and guess what, the government did not give me that eggnog. I earned it. And I never got a hug from the government.
EBL, I think you're analysis is sound. Stop being so hard on yourself. Venting your frustrations is better than holding them in. And, a contented cow produces more milk.
