Ace is correct about David French  

The players can protest all they want, on their time. When the cameras are rolling just before a game it is NFL time. Idiot Goodell should have shut this thing down from the start, but managed to let it turn it into a much bigger deal. During NFL events, the NFL gets to regulate what players and teams do (within reason). Telling players not to disrupt the anthem (or opt out in the locker room) is within the NFL's authority.

Of course Donald Trump injected himself into this dispute (because he saw it as a political opportunity for himself). That did not help the League. The NFL has also mostly despised Trump going back to when he started his rival league. You know why the NFL owners implemented this rule now? The drop in ratings was really hurting the NFL. The League needs this behind them.  

David French's argument seems to be conservatives were wrong to be offended in the first place. On that point, French is completely wrong. If you see someone doing something you disapprove of, you have the right to be offended. You do not have the right to act violently, but you certainly have the right to respond with withholding your viewership and spending. The smart move is to resist it.  

David French, even when he is right, comes off like such a chidey scold you want to take the opposite position. David Brooks, David Frum, David French...what is it with Davids at National Review?  They seem like they are extended job interviews for left wing media sites.  

Donald Trump was ordered by a Hawaiian judge that he cannot block people on his private Twitter account. David French takes the position Twitter is a public forum. Okay, seems inappropriate for the courts to say who and who shouldn't be banned on Twitter. Does that mean Milo, Stacy McCain and all the other people who were banned or shadow-banned get to go back on Twitter unrestricted to exercise their free speech rights?

I was a fan of Kevin Williamson (back in the day), but his arrogance to those of us he disagreed with on the right was annoying. He is entitled to his view and I can recognize merits in some of his arguments even if I disagreed with them in part. I am not surprised however he was essentially wooed, screwed and then abandoned by The Atlantic. It is not surprising at all, it was so predictable.  

There is a culture war going on and Kevin Williamson remains in the ghetto on the right. Perhaps he some of the other holdouts at the Weekly Standard, RedState, and NRO should consider joining the resistance and recognizing the real enemy. Hint: Donald Trump is not the problem, whether you agree with his positions or not, his election victory was a reaction to the problem. Roseanne Barr is not the problem. Bill Kristol, David Frum, David Brooks, and Evan McMullin are not the future for conservatism (they are weak pitiful fools and sell outs).  Jennifer Rubin, Ana Navarro, and Joe Scarborough are actively hostile to conservatism.

Ok, but I have to ask, was Trump's offer (which the Democrats automatically disapproved) something that if offered by Jeb Bush, Mitch Romney, or Marco Rubio that NRO and most of the GOPe would have been against?  Dare I say Erick Erickson would have supported it?

What about Hillary (had she won), what would have happened to DACA then? Wouldn't she be doing all she could to make this happen with or without congress (and she would have had her pick as the swing vote on the Supreme Court).

I take Ted Cruz's criticism seriously, still I have to wait and see how this immigration offer and subsequent negotiations play out. Mark Kirkorian says it is a betrayal. Don Surber disagrees. Monica Showalter has a similar take to Surber's. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, but given what I have seen play out over the past two years, I trust Don Surber's take and Donald Trump more on this than I trust the NeverTrumper crowd.

Let's see if they can assemble the 60 votes in the senate to get this passed and in what form.

A manifesto at NRO to denounce Trump? Here is NRO's article. Trump is entitled to try to win.  How about a manifesto to denounce the GOPe like Senator Burr and others who are trashing Ted Cruz?  If you are going to take Trump on, take him on the issues and against trashing Cruz (which is what Mark Levin is doing). 

I am not in a panic over this. If Trump is meant to win, then he will win. This nomination race is far from over given no votes have even been cast yet. 

In my opinion, if you want a real conservative, Ted Cruz is it.  Maybe there should be pressure for some of these lesser GOP candidates to bow out and back Cruz. But now we are watching much of the GOPe try to destroy Ted Cruz over some pipe dream of making us want Jeb Bush or John Kasich? Do they really think that would work? Or is the GOPe goal simply to let the Democrat win (assuming Hillary survives her own festering self inflicted wounds) in order to keep Cruz from winning? I am with Glenn Reynolds on this, I would greatly prefer Ted Cruz, but I have no problem going Trump if the choice is The Donald vs. Hillary (or Sanders, Biden, etc.).  I would also choose Trump (without hesitation) over Jeb or Kasich.

President Obama backs off his statement that Egypt is no longer an ally (political translation): Mr. Obama needs to determine which position helps him the most politically in the up coming election.

Apparently today, President Obama did not like the way that statement was playing out so the White House offered this clarification: President Barack Obama didn't intend to signal any change in the U.S.-Egypt relationship last night when he said Egypt is not an "ally," the White House told The Cable today.

Barack Obama is the guy who is such an expert on foreign policy?  There was an attack on the U.S. Benghazi consulate in June and no security upgrades were implemented.    Obama does not seem that popular with the mobs that attacked Americans. The buck stops with President Obama:  President Obama has grossly underestimated the danger of this and as a result four Americans were brutally murdered.  Nancy Pelosi confirmed that she will support sending $1.5 billion in foreign aid to Egypt.  So exactly what did we gain with the Arab Spring? And the media is going after Mitt Romney? Why?
