This is a smart move by Nancy Pelosi



This is a smart move by Speaker Pelosi. Impeaching President Trump would be a stupid partisan attack (especially with the thin gruel they got to go on now) and would back fire on the Democrats. Not only would Trump not be convicted in the Senate, but I suspect it would almost guarantee Trump wins re-election.  

My guess remains if there was serious evidence against President Trump, we would have heard about it by now. Almost certainly those in senior positions of government have some idea what Robert Mueller will be reporting.  

Speaker Nancy does have to keep her young firebrands in line. This course correction is a signal to them as well as to the rest of us. But if civil war breaks out with the Democrats, I am ok with that too.

Republicans need to suck it up: Repeal Obamacare


I am the "rip the bandaid off" personality. With Obamacare, there are no great solutions, just less bad ones. The least bad is usually the simplest and most direct. I say repeal Obamacare and let the insurance markets recover.

Politically that will be tough but not impossible to pull that off (pardon the pun). Ted Cruz and Mike Pence may be working behind the scenes to avoid a filibuster.


Republicans will still have a challenge getting even fifty votes. If they have to to cobble a deal (with Collins, Murkowski and others willing to break), perhaps offer a fix for vulnerable people for two years to curtail the cries that Republicans are killing children and the poor (the risk with that is there will always be a push to extend it indefinitely).  

The alternative is just wait (which is hardly risk free). If we do that, at least allow consumers and insurers to provide real insurance (without preexisting conditions covered) which could truly be affordable. With the health savings accounts, consumers could pay for immediate health services they need out of pocket (and with pretax dollars) and have catastrophic insurance (just in case something bad happens).

Rush Limbaugh: The Limbaugh Health Care Plan. Rush is right: It is not just Obamacare, it is fifty years of federal meddling with healthcare and insurance that got us in this mess. But you have to start somewhere.

As a fiscal conservative, I am profoundly skeptical about expanding entitlements, but I recognize the need for more Americans to have more kids. And not single parents (which we encourage and subsidize secondarily through programs like WIC), but married couples raising bigger families. Is that what this Trump push is about?  

Maybe, although I think the explanation is more simple that that. Trump proposing this it freaks out Democrats because Trump is seeking to steel issues from them that they pander to to gain votes. But the trouble with pandering for votes with entitlements is where does it stop?

One is a beloved simpleton who gets in and out of hilarious adventures
and the other is White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus...

The botched roll out of the temporary travel ban is being blamed on Priebus. He is also being blamed for letting Obama sleeper pols mess with the Trump agenda, such as Yates.  Ultimately it looks like people are losing faith in the Chief of Staff. Many never had faith in him in the first place. 

The Chief of Staff's job is to bring stability to the administration. President Trump needs a very strong Chief of Staff. Does anyone equate the word strong with Reince Priebus?

Is Marco Rubio a closer?


Beyond the Gang of 8 immigration debacle (which may still prove to be a fatal mistake for Marco Rubio), there is a serious question on whether he has the organization, game plan, and strategy to win the nomination.

Is this Marco's path to the nomination?  Or This?  Granted this is a year where everything is up in the air, but don't basic old school politics still matter?  Rubio does not have what Obama had back in 2008. Cruz leads in Iowa, Trump in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. If Rubio lacks a ground game and is not leading in any polls (Florida included) isn't it a legitimate question on whether Marco Rubio's a closer?

Barack Obama: Does he Love America, Love Christianity?

Dear Leader Barack Obama as much as the media does?

This whole episode is just so revealing of how biased and dishonest most of the media is when it comes to liberal and conservative politics. 

This disconnect on patriotism is similar to the disconnect between on religion. In a biased and partisan attempt to tear Scott Walker down, the Washington Post tried to frame a comment out of context to make Barack Obama not Christian. Is Barack Obama Christian?


Well, to the extent he went to Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church for twenty years…yeah he is a Christian (although Hillary Clinton was not so sure). 




What's the big deal liberals think. Church is for the old people. Liberals give lip service to Christianity as a nice social networking thing to do (occasionally when the weather is not so great) on a Sunday.  



Obama was raised with the beliefs that patriotism leads to fascism and religion leads to oppression of others. What they miss is patriotism and faith are not jingoisms. People believe this, sometimes at great sacrifice (you can check out some of the Louis Zamperini links here).

But Rand Paul does have one liability hurdle that may prove insurmountable…

Ron Paul: Says the French had it coming because of over oil and the Shah?

A couple of issues over this recent statement by Ron: these attacks in France were the result of Algerians/Muslims who emigrated to France. While in a very broad sense France's past colonial territories, like Algeria, contributed to that immigration--this radicalization is a global phenomenon not limited to France.  France also had little involvement with the Shah (that was the British and then Americans who were involved in that). Plus, these were Sunni attacks, there was no Iranian or Shiite influence (at least as far as I have heard). 

I think Hyatt Boumediene (who fled to Syria) said she was radicalized by innocents being killed by American bombs in Iraq…but (beyond not being true) what does that have to do with Charlie Hebdo? One of the attackers pledged his allegiance to ISIS. In short, Ron Paul is mostly wrong. The French attacks really were over Western sensibilities over freedom of thought and expression. The statement from the attackers sums it up: "[Charlie Hebdo] had the freedom to use cartoons in their magazine, and we have the freedom to use bullets from our magazines. . ."

Could you imagine the field day the press would have if Rand Paul was the GOP nominee and Ron kept opening his mouth during the campaign? Rand would have a difficult enough time with all the crazy stuff Ron has said over the year.  

Will Ron Paul ruin Rand Paul's chances for presidency?

While Rand Paul the same as Ron Paul, a lot of people think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  Ron Paul's fiscal interests in a broad sense are sound, while I agree less involvement overseas is better, his view on complete pull out of overseas involvement would be very dangerous and would not make us safer.  Ron Paul's ties to racist groups and refusal to reject their contributions to his campaigns is not good.  But the biggest liability for Rand is Ron speaks in absolutes and cannot shut his mouth.
