Mattis and Kelly respond to Bob Woodward

Bob Woodward wants to sell books. He does not care if quotes are real or not, he just has to show he has a "source" (without revealing who it is). So what if the source is lying or twisting the truth, or if the actual persons say it is not true and it never happened.

When Jim Mattis denies on Woodward's "quotes" of him (especially with "unnamed sources") I am going with Mattis. Mattis calls Woodward's book "fiction." Mattis makes it clear he would not disrespect the President or tollerate others to do so in front of him.

Chief of Staff Jim Kelly also denounces Woodward's book:
“The idea I ever called the president an idiot is not true,” Kelly said in a statement distributed by the White House. “He always knows where I stand, and he and I both know this story is total B.S.”

Separated at Birth: Mississippi Political Blogger Clayton Thomas Kelly and…?

TOM: "Forget it Jake, it's…"

This post is not to defend Clayton Thomas Kelly, if he did this it was definitely wrong.  But part of Kelly's problem is he is not able to ride on an Establishment reputation like Bob Woodward did with his supposed death bed interview of Bill Casey.  Of course, there is a dispute over whether it ever happened--which suggests Woodward might be guilty of something else.

Update:
TOM: More arrests in Mississippi Scandal (definitely BSC News worthy)

We cover this race on the podcast and Ace makes a point I haven't seen anyone else making...the charges represent an unethical use of law enforcement in order to stifle a legitimate act of journalism. The podcast is up and linked in the sidebar.

Chuck Todd claims Bob Woodward is a spokesman for the Republicans?  Why?  Because Woodward had the termity to call the White House out on the sequester (which everyone knows Barack Obama's White House initially proposed)?

The sequester is something Barack Obama proposed.  He is now lying about it to gain political advantage.   The White House is upset Woodward called them on it.

Beta Barack: Nancy Pelosi moots him so she and Harry Reid can do business...

The new Bob Woodwood book has some revelations of disfunction and discord in the Obama Administration and the Democrats.

Who's your Mama!  Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid
did not fear President Obama:
Woodward recounts an episode early in his presidency when then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid were hammering out final details of the stimulus bill.
Obama phoned in to deliver a "high-minded message," he writes. Obama went on so long that Pelosi "reached over and pressed the mute button on her phone," so they could continue to work without the president hearing that they weren't paying attention.
