It is not just Ilhan Omar. Democrats Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ayanna Pressley also spout racist, hateful, anti-American rhetoric all the time. My dislike of Ms. Omar has nothing to do with her being Somali. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a hero of mine and I respect her very much. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is also routinely threatened and attacked both by Islamists and the Left. All the usual suspects jumping up to defend Ilhan Omar don't do the same for Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

What I find offensive about Ms. Omar's is her rhetoric and socialist politics. Her rhetoric in particular shows a hostility and a profound disconnect and ungratefulness to a nation that took her family in.

Ms. Omar likely committed marriage fraud to get her brother a visa (by pretending he was her husband and marrying him). She then lied on tax and other forms as a result. That should be a real issue for a Congress member.

Even more disturbing is Ilhan Omar's hostility to Jews and Israel. Ayaan Hirsi Ali asks if Ilhan Omar can overcome her own prejudices? She has been caught several times making her anti-Semitic tropes and comments. Democrats gave her some mild rebuke, only because it creates division in their ranks. Ilhan Omar recently joined AOC in going after Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat party.

The hypocrisy about the hostility to Ilhan Omar (and many in the Democrat Party) to Israel is shown by the left's complete disregard for situations like what China does to its Muslim minority. Do you ever hear Ilhan Omar or any Democrats challenging that?

John Hinderaker (who I like enormously) criticized Donald Trump for tweeting about Ilhan Omar. I am not so sure about that tweet being a mistake. Neither are Glenn Reynolds or Don Surber. Yes of course the media is going to spin that Trump is xenophobic and racist--I have been hearing that every since Trump went down that escalator and announced his campaign. But Ilhan Omar, AOC, and Ayanna Pressley are not the type of candidates who will do well with lot of in-depth coverage and should not be the standard bearers for the Democrat Party. All the Democrat Presidential Candidates will now be falling over themselves to defend AOC and Ilhan Omar.
