In regard to the colored people, there is always more that is benevolent, I perceive, than just, manifested towards us. What I ask for the negro is not benevolence, not pity, not sympathy, but simply justice. The American people have always been anxious to know what they shall do with us... I have had but one answer from the beginning. Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us. Do nothing with us! If the apples will not remain on the tree of their own strength, if they are worm-eaten at the core, if they are early ripe and disposed to fall, let them fall! ... And if the negro cannot stand on his own legs, let him fall also. All I ask is, give him a chance to stand on his own legs! Let him alone! ... your interference is doing him positive injury.Fredrick Douglass "What the Black Man Wants" — speech in Boston, Massachusetts, January 26, 1865. Of course Fredrick Douglass was one of those blacks who went off the reservation...

In Romney's speech bashing President Obama last night, he said, "It's still about the economy, and we're not stupid."
Yeah, it still is about the economy, stupid. It's about how hucksters like Mitt crashed it, the middle class paid the price, and the top 1% got more tax cuts.
Let's call out these Republicans on their downright hypocrisy...

I wonder why Obama would not be into Debbie? |
A source within the Democratic Party who is a close associate of Wasserman Schultz has told the Shark Tank the details about the process that took place when the vetting of prospective candidates for the DNC chair.
The source told the Shark Tank that, “she (Wasserman Schultz) was not the first choice,” and that Wasserman Schultz feverishly lobbied her case of being a sitting ‘Jewish’ congresswoman in a very safe Democratic district. According to the source, Obama was pressured into picking Wasserman Schultz because she impressed upon him that he needed her as a loyal foot soldier to run cover him and shore up his dwindling support with the Jewish voters as well as with women.
But while Obama has been able to rely on Wasserman Schultz to carry his water, the President has grown increasingly annoyed with the polarizing manner in which she attacks her political opposition-a style that has galvanized her Republican opponents and chased many of those coveted ‘Independents’ away.
It seems as if the relationship has soured to the point that according to the source, “He does not want her in the DNC anymore.”
Apparently, President Obama had discussions with the DNC Chairwoman regarding her approach, even telling her, “Don’t forget you work for me.”h/t: Gateway Pundit

The latest action happened Wednesday, when the House passed a measure to move the pipeline forward. Before the vote, Obama issued a veto threat. The House approved the pipeline anyway -- by a veto-proof majority, 293 to 127. Sixty-nine Democrats abandoned the president to vote with Republicans. That's a lot of defections. When the House voted on the pipeline in July of last year, 47 Democrats broke with the president. Now that it's an election year and the number is up to 69, look for Republicans to hold more pipeline votes before November. GOP leaders expect even more Democrats to join them.Canada is also upset with Barack Obama opposition to the pipeline.
Then there is the Senate. Democrats are using the filibuster to stop the pipeline, which means 60 votes are required to pass it. (Some Democrats who bitterly opposed the filibuster when Republicans used it against Obama initiatives are notably silent these days.) In a vote last month, 11 Senate Democrats stood up against Obama to vote in favor of the pipeline. Add those 11 to the Republicans' 47 votes, and the pro-pipeline forces are just a couple of votes away from breaking Harry Reid's filibuster.
"We're right around the corner from actually passing it," says a well-informed Senate source. "Two-hundred-ninety-three votes in the House is a gigantic number. People want this thing."
Democrats look out for their own...the party of hypocrisy Barack Obama's taste in politicians is as bad as his dinner choices... Instapundit UPDATE: A reader emails: “About that missing MF Global money, has anyone thought to check Corzine’s ‘bundle’?” Roger Kimball has more: Why is Jon Corzine still at liberty? Well this explains why Democrat Corzine was not prosecuted by the Obama Administration! |
It really isn’t unfair at all to bring Obama’s canine consumption to public attention. The president isn’t really one of us. He’s a dog-eater. He tells the story in his memoir to emphasize that viscerally, Obama identifies with the Third World of his upbringing more than with the America of his adulthood. It is our great misfortune to have a president who dislikes our country at this juncture in our history.

Yesterday I pointed to a piece of legislation that is in the House right now (after being passed by the Senate) which would give the IRS the power to confiscate your passportwithout judicial review and merely on the suspicion you owe a certain amount of back taxes.Given the Orwellian name Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act or MAP-21, the legislation also mandates that all new cars have a “event data recorder” installed starting in 2015...Map-21 H.R. 14 is sponsored by Congressperson Tim Bishop (Democrat, New York 1). There is no provision to opt out and you will be criminally liable if you disable your black box.
Ballard's original version was the B-side to "Teardrops On Your Letter," a song that was covered by many Country musicians. "The Twist" went over very well live and Ballard thought it was a hit, but his record company thought "Teardrops On My Letter" would do better. In Philadelphia a deejay named Buddy Dean had a TV dance party show and played the song. The kids' reaction was excellent and Buddy recommended the song to Dick Clark. Clark was impressed enough to play the song on American Bandstand and saw the incredible reaction - the kids went nuts. He tried to get Ballard to introduce the song on American Bandstand, but the deal fell through. Checker (real name: Earnest Evans) was a chicken plucker who liked to sing on the job. He was a great impersonator and kept everyone at the chicken plant laughing as he'd do his impersonations of the popular stars of that time like Fats Domino, Elvis, The Coasters and the Chipmunks. His boss thought he was great and just happened to be a close friend of Dick Clark. Clark was impressed enough by what Checker's boss said about him to invite Chubby to sing a Christmas Card greeting record he sent out to his friends. When he couldn't get Ballard on this show, Clark thought of Ernest Evans, the chicken plucker. He hired musicians and Evans to duplicate the Ballard version of "The Twist," which they did almost exactly: Same key, same tempo, and Evans sounded just like Hank Ballard. Clark was going to release the record but wanted Ernest to think up a stage name. Clark's wife suggested that he use a take off on Fats Domino: Fats=Chubby Domino=Checker. Ernest Evans became Chubby Checker. When Hank Ballard first heard the song on the radio he thought it was him - "They cloned it" were Hank's words. This link that Crack Emcee had at his post states this: Was Ballard bitter over Checker’s success? Far from it – he thanked Chubby Checker (and Dick Clark) for helping make the song popular and why not? One would assume Hank Ballard earned a fortune in songwriting royalties Given how a lot of artists (especially black R&B artists) were ripped off during that time period, I would not automatically assume that about song writing royalties. Still, I would be bitter on not getting the wider credit for this song.
Obama, it would seem, wants to deny to others what he will not deny to himself. He wants to deny to the children of others what he will not deny to his own children. He wants to amass riches, but he doesn't want you to amass wealth. He doesn't mind private school for his own children, but he minds it for your children. He doesn't mind eating whatever he wants to eat, but he minds what you eat. He doesn't mind taking that 747 one frivolous trip after another, one self-serving fundraising after another, but he minds what you drive and how much fuel you use. And we can go on and on.Of course, some animals are also very tasty!

Seventy years ago today, 16 U.S. Army B29 Mitchell bombers under the command of Lt. Col. James H. Doolittle took off from the deck of the USS Hornet on a mission to bomb Tokyo. This would be the first American strike against the Japanese just 4 months after the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. It was essentially a suicide mission as the bombers didn’t have the fuel capacity to complete a round trip back to the carrier. The plan was to complete the bombing run, make it into China and bailout out over territory not yet held by the Japanese.More history here...
The raid went generally as planned and all 16 planes were able to drop their bomb loads over Tokyo in broad daylight. Of the 80 crew members, all but 6 survived. One was killed on bailout; 2 drowned when their plane ditched off the coast of China; 8 were captured by the Japanese and 3 of those were executed by the Japanese.
