Chinese New Year 🐀🥟🎇🍜😷

Not such a good year for this rat.

With Coronavirus and CoronaOutbreak out there--Chinese New Year got past me this year. It is the year of the rat--which seems appropriate for a plague year. Things in China has not been so great recently.

Speaking of rats: Bolton and Mitt "Willard" Romney are both in this news this week. Coincidence?

It is Spring Festival in China

It is considered good luck to eat egg rolls, dumplings, and noodles this time of year. And cutting your hair during the festival is considered bad, because it cuts your wealth for this year.

Disney will probably try to make the best of it.

So are the Iranians setting a Saudi Arabian oil facility on fire via drones a big deal? 🛢️🔥 🤔

Maybe. Yeah that might be a big deal😟

President TrumpI have a high degree of skepticismbut you might consider not trusting the Iranians.
I am surprised the Saudi's have not launched a counter attack yet. Half of Saudi production was shut down. This was well planned.

Goodbye John Bolton...Update: Did Bolton Leak?

Ace has a good point, these sort of  tweeting pissing matches that Trump gets into with his own people are stupid. I do not see any benefit in this.

I like John Bolton. But that does not mean I think every position John Bolton takes is a good one. I felt the same way about Jim Mattis. You can have disagreements with your advisors that stay priviate and do not spill out in the media. Part of this blame goes to Trump advisors, but a lot of it goes to Donald Trump. YMWV depending on the Trump advisor.

I do support getting out of Syria and Afghanistan. I also recognize getting out like Barack Obama did in Iraq is a mistake.

Ace raises a bigger point: President Trump has been played by the GOP Establishment from day one. Leaking was endemic (in part due to plants by the GOPe). While in some ways the GOP has worked with Trump effectively (such as judical appointments), it has twarted him on immigration and the border from the get. The lack of loyalty is astounding. The nonsense that happened with Rod Rosenstein and Jim Comey was nothing short of a coup attempt.

UPDATE: AoSHQ: If this is true, Bolton deserved the boot! I understand disagreeing with the Preisdent, but that does not justifying leaking (especially anonimously). I guess we will find out soon.

H.R. MCMASTER for Trump's National Security Advisor

While I would have liked to see John Bolton get the tap (if only to fire up the media and left to start soiling themselves again), McMaster is a very solid pick. Even though his choice will appeal to those on the left and the right (given this book which is on the recommended reading list of the Commandant of the USMC), that does not mean McMaster is not an excellent advisor for President Trump. I assume James Mattis supported this choice.

A war hero and smart guy who is focused on winning, what's not to like?

John Bolton was definitely in the running for this job. President Trump says John Bolton will be assisting the administration in a yet undefined roll.

Rex Tillerson at State? Update: DailyMail says it's Tillerson

It sure seemed that Rush Limbaugh was practically announcing it yesterday when he was discussing Cathy McMorris Rodgers going to the Department of Interior.  Tillerson and Romney are both qualified for the job. Tillerson backed Jeb in the election. The biggest difference is Tillerson's business ties to Putin and Russia.

I am interested where John Bolton is right now.  Rand Paul has said he would block him for Secretary of State (because of Bolton's past support for the Iraq War).  I assume he is not in line for the top job, but what about a deputy position at State? I disagree with Rand that Bolton is a war monger. What I like about Bolton is he has the inclination and attitude to help who ever is the Secretary clean out the Augean Stable that is our current State Department.

There are a lot of lefty and pundit Trump pot stirrers out there right now...

Heat Street Pot Stirring: So what happened with Bannon and Priebus?

Lem's Place: NYT pledges to be honest...

I do not have a position yet on the Priebus and Bannon Chief of Staff position and other Donald Trump cabinet picks or policies. I am not sure what is really going on behind the scenes. For me it is too early to tell and a lot of it depends on what Priebus performs.  I don't trust Ryan or McConnell at all, but Trump can't afford to go to war with his own party out of the gates, so I understand why he would consider needing some insiders on his side.

I am not criticizing Troop's take, but the Heat Street one is definitely suspect. Oh sure, I have my own fantasy cabinet preferences (for example, I would be ecstatic over Trump picking John Bolton for Secretary of State and giddy over Myron Ebell at the EPA), but I am going to defer to the President Elect to do what he thinks best. Let's see how it plays out.

What I find interesting (but not all that surprising) is how much media dishonesty is going on, trying to create divisions. Their bias is obvious to those of use paying attention, but we still need to call them out on it. They are such bastards.

And I know this, the SPLC is a HATE group.
