Popehat notes some Islamists say if free speech is so important, why is denying the Holocaust in some European countries illegal?  That is a good point.  It should not be illegal to state that the Holocaust never happened.  I disagree with that position (Holocaust denial), but we should confront those who do with logic and sound argument.  We believe the Holocaust happened because we have the facts and evidence to show it happened.  The answer to free speech you disagree with is more free speech.

France bans street protests over these cartoons.  Hmmm. Sort of misses the point if you don't allow peaceful protests.  

Why don't you adopt one of those "ugly black babies."

Raaaaacist?  All American Blogger does a facepalm sort of post:  Calling Barack Obama skinny is a coded message about race?    Rod Dreher at The American Conservative also notes the faux outrage over this.  What is with that?  I thought being thin was supposed to be a good thing?  Well pretty much everything (if your politics are "wrong") is considered raaaaacist now.  Raaaaacism is a club to beat conservatives with.

So is this Separated at Birth raaaaacist too?  Is it impossible to criticize the President or mock him (which I thought we were entitled to do in this country) without it being called raaaaacist?

Senator Saxby Chambliss calls out for Department of Justice to investigate Brett Kimberlin and ABC is now reporting on the story.

While I was at a t-ball game tonight, I received an email that informed me that Sen. Saxby Chambliss had written a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting an investigation into the possible illegal intimidation of conservative bloggers.

That’s a refreshing step in the whole Brett Kimberlin saga. You can download and read the letter here.

Turns out, that was just the push this story needed. Now, ABC News is reporting on it:

A number of conservative bloggers allege they have been targeted through the use of harassment tactics such as SWAT-ting (fooling 911 operators into sending emergency teams to their homes), in retaliation for posts they have written, and now Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., has stepped into the matter. He has sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder urging him to investigate the SWAT-ting cases to see if federal laws have been violated.

“I am writing with concern regarding recent reports that several members of the community of online political commentators have been targeted with harassing and frightening actions. Any potentially criminal action that incites fear, seeks to silence a dissenting opinion, and collaterally wastes the resources of law enforcement should be given close scrutiny at all levels,” Chambliss wrote in the letter.

“Regardless of any potential political differences that may exist, threats and intimidation have no place in our national political discourse. Those who choose to enter into that political discourse should not have to worry about potential threats to their or their family’s safety,” Chambliss continued. “While I am certain that local law enforcement is reviewing each of these instances, I am asking you to please look into each of these cases as well to determine if any federal laws may have been violated. Future targets of SWAT-ting, whether engaged in political speech or not, may not be so fortunate as to escape physical harm.”

This is very good news.  Thank you to Sen. Saxby Chambliss for acting. It is good to see ABC reporting it.  Support Ali Akbar.  Support Robert Stacy McCain.  The more sunlight on the lying felon Brett Kimberlin the better.
