Russia vs. Ukraine: Who wins this war of attrition?


Why Russia is Happy at War: Russia's economy is good, they are mobilized to make ammunition and weapons, and Russians are volunteering to serve in Ukraine (thanks to generous pay and bonus incentives). This is probably not propaganda, this is from the Atlantic, which is going to naturally lean towards Ukraine's position.  

I am no fan of Putin and was against Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but continuing this war increasingly makes no sense. Ukraine seems very unlikely to dislodge Russia from eastern Ukraine, let alone Crimea. So how long does this go on for? How many have to die for a stalemate? Especially if eventually Ukraine ends up weaker by fighting on.
