I have not seen this film yet. When I saw this trailer early on I knew it strayed considerably from the source material. I liked World War Z the book. Not surprisingly, the movie is (apparently) not an improvement.
Will Smith's After Earth is bombing, perhaps he can commiserate with Brad Pitt.
Update:
How M. Knight Shyamalan became just another director...

What's not to love about an apocalyptic zombie movie?
ReplyDeleteI do not care for fast zombies. They bother me.
DeleteThe best thing about zombies is them having glacier pace. Fast zombies are so friggin dangerous, what is the point. What gets you about slow zombies is you can fight them off, till you can't. WWZ looks like a fast pace video game and not a movie.
Slow zombies also make sense. Slow metabolisms can last for months, even years, without food. Fast zombies would burn themselves out in a matter of days.
My son and I saw the trailer for this when we went to see Star Trek. We laughed out loud at it. Crappy, crappy physics. The people scaling the wall looked like they were being squeezed out of a tube of toothpaste. I'm not a zombie fan anyway. I only watch The Walking Dead to appease my kid. Fortunately, it sucked out enough in the last episode that I can openly mock it now and my son joins in, because the show has jumped the shark.
ReplyDeleteGood zombie shows should allow plenty of commentary and humor, combined with an occasional scary scene. I like Walking Dead, but I mock it too.
DeleteIt is also crappy CGA. This is I Robot with zombies and I Robot sucked as a movie (Isaac Asimov is rolling in his grave). I bet I Am Legend is better than this movie and I Am Legend sucked as a movie (and had similar metabolism problems in concept to this with their zombies, although at least they were only active half the day).
