Places you should go once in your life: Ngorongoro, Tanzania

It is more correctly described as a caldera  the collapsed inside of a volcano (a crater is typically a blast zone of a meteorite).  It is the largest unfilled volcanic caldera in the world (the floor is about 100 square miles).  Ngorongoro is a national conservation area in Tanzania near the larger Serengeti park (and Kenya's Masai Mara) and is also adjacent to the Olduvai Gorge.

When it comes to landscapes and wildlife, both Kenya and Tanzania are absolutely spectacular.  But among the elite parks both those counties have, Ngorongoro is a very special place and one well worth visiting at least once in your life.
