Kenneth Clark does a great job. This show is unabashedly about Western Civilization (I will go with the American spelling on that). It essentially starts with the fall of the Roman Empire and how tenuous Western Civilization was at that point.

Well worth watching. Kenneth Clark notes that civilisations are born of confidence and optimism. They often die of boredom, even if on the surface the societies are prosperous right before the end. A thought that the barbarians taking over would be better than the status quo.

This show was done in 1969-70.  I strongly recommend watching it, whether you have seen it before and especially if you have not.
