There is a strategy going on here with President Trump and his tweets.
With Hong Kong demanding freedom China, the USA squaring off on tariffs, and China's economic expansion not moving forward--the pressure is on China for the next year. Sure they can try waiting things out till a new administration is in the White House, but that is going to be a long painful wait. Cracking down on Hong Kong is also far more difficult for China under these circumstances.
There is a method to this tweeting madness. President Trump is right about China. They have not been playing fair and need to be called out. Whether it works out remains to be seen, but Trump's tweets are not just random.
