John Heilemann: Dumb ass or just a liar about Mark Halperin?

I liked The Circus and thought Mark Halperin was at least a bit objective in it (although Mark McKinnon was my favorite). I knew Halperin was pulling for Hillary, but he tried to at least cover the screw ups on both sides during the campaign.

John Heilemann, however, was a smug arrogant prick. I could not stand his analysis. And Heilemann is not stupid, so when Heilemann says he didn't know about Halperin, he is lying (in my opinion).

You don't work for a guy like Mark Halperin that long without getting wind of rumors out there. Sometimes when you have an indefensible position, it is just better to keep your mouth shut.

Heilemann probably just does not want to get dragged down with Halperin--but pretending you didn't know does not help. And ignoring this sort of thing is obviously a big problem not just in media.
