I do not mean to disparage Dylan. He is an extremely talented song writer and poet and has a lot of work. But the Nobel Prize for Literature? I am going to guess there are a lot of old boomers on the selection panel.
I agree EBL. I also agree with chicklet, that lyrics are poetry and therefore literature. But now?
I will admit, it was only a year ago that I learned from Garth Brooks (DVD Box Set, not that he sat down with me) that this Adele song was actually written by Bob Dylan. It's a beautiful song, but if the title was read aloud by Trump; you can bet it would be a point of discussion at the third debate.
"Once upon a time you dressed so fine, threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?" Honoring literature like that helps you understand Obama's Nobel for "peace"

Churchill just rose from his grave and returned his Nobel.
ReplyDeleteHere's my favorite reaction. From Irvin Welsh, author of Trainspotting:
ReplyDelete“I’m a Dylan fan, but this is an ill-conceived nostalgia award wrenched from the rancid prostates of senile, gibbering hippies.”
