Donald Trump: Beware the Ides of March, or July as the case may be...

Donald, Beware the Ides of March July: How to steal a nomination and what may be coming

I suspect Donald Trump will have either a pretty good or a YUGE night (depending on Ohio). Does that mean he has the nomination in the bag? Not necessarily.

It's ain't over till it's over. And with Trump only having a plurality of votes so far, it's far from over. And while the GOP is not quite as stacked as the DNC is, don't underestimate the GOPe to dictate an election.  Of course, it could backfire on the GOPe. The best thing Donald Trump has going for him is most of the GOPe loathe Ted Cruz possibly even more than they do the Donald, but Cruz is starting to make allies. The GOPe transferring its love to Kasich seems pretty thin gruel, Ohio notwithstanding.

Of course as Jonah recently pointed out, the invasion of body snatchers is a bit of a problem for those resisting a Trump nomination. Public perception of inevitability makes Trump's position that much stronger. As many of us have been saying for a while, there is really only one realistic path to resisting a Trump nomination. Cruz is also close in delegate numbers.

  1. As of right now, he has better than half the delegates needed. Cruz is a tad shy of a third.

Cruz also failed to win a single Southern state and only one Midwestern state.

Take a look at the schedule in April:

Wisconsin, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island.

How much of that looks like Cruz country?
