Carroll says they were lined up for the run, so they decided on a slant play and if it didn't work they would run then. Makes no sense with the time out, but what can you do. It was not Russell who blew the play but coaching. Which happens.
I suppose Pete the Cheat was thinking that you never (hardly ever?) see a goal-line slant picked off instead of batted away. But this time, the Butler did it.
By tomorrow someone will have figured out a way that Belichick cheated on that play.
ReplyDeleteBut now you know why Cheaty Petie was fired by NE.
Belicheat's deflated Pete's brain
DeleteIt was illegal for Belichick to let the clock run down, tricking Pete the Cheat into calling a pass play.

I can't recall a more mind-boggling sequence of plays than Kearse's circus catch followed by Butler's ridiculous pick.
DeleteGreat game all around. Congrats on a good season.

DeleteSad to say, sometimes the bad guys win.
ReplyDeleteI see that you persist in burbling opinions based on nonsense in this case.
