How about a little Holocaust denial with your Common Core public school test questions? AoSHQ had this post that should bother the hell out of you.
Yes, unfortunately, this story is real! (the Holocaust was unfortunately real too)
A look at 2 pages of the 18 assignment in Rialto - students asked to argue whether Holocaust happened. @cbsla pic.twitter.com/97KqUFWfWF

Update:Common Core standards used to deny a Holocaust survivor from speaking to students in Delaware
Sooper Mexican (yeah, he is shocked too)
Lesson Plan Cancelled (good for that)
Teen suspended in Alabama over opting out of Common Core standards
California Rialto School to revise Holocaut Hoax question
2000 or so 8th graders in Rialto, and not a single parent or teacher was bothered by an assignment to deny the Holocaust? We are screwed.

Interim Superintendent Mohammad Z. Islam…
ReplyDeleteJust a crazy guess that he's not gonna get the job on a non-interim basis.
He just got appointed to that March 12, so he may not be directly responsible for this. It appears he shut it down when he became aware of it, so I will give him the benefit of doubt pending finding out who is really responsible for this.
DeleteFair enough.
DeleteAs long as we're being fair-minded, I'll add that it's easy to see how this happened. You're looking for a nutty belief that's easy for an 8th grader to debunk, b/c of a "critical thinking" requirement. Somebody says, "Do you know that there are some dickweeds out there who claim that the Holocaust is a myth? Let's use that!"
Next thing ya know, Drudge is telling the world that you're teaching Holocaust denial and you backpedal as fast as you can.
