Barack Obama's own handwriting? |
‘I... appreciate your concern about the toxic political environment right now. I do have to challenge you, though, on the notion that any citizen that disagrees with me has been “targeted and ridiculed” or that I have “made fun” of tea-baggers,’ Obama allegedly wrote.
Urban Dictionary has completely biased definitions of "teabaggers."
Beyond the crude sexual references, these UD contributors completely ignore that the Tea Party was prompted by George W. Bush's out of control spending.
Update:
More from Hot Air (Mary Katharine Ham does a good job breaking it down)

If I read the original story correctly, he was quoting the person who wrote the letter he was responding to, he just didn't put quote marks around tea baggers in his version.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah he said it, but it wasn't an unprompted spontaneous thing.
Not, you know, in THIS instance.
I noticed that in the original message to him. Nevertheless, If it is his handwriting and his signature, it is him referring to teabaggers.
DeleteDid I say it wasn't his handwriting, his signature or him saying it? I only said he didn't put in quotes--and he was, in his own weird little way--sticking up for the rights of tea-baggers to have their opinions (how gracious of him!).
DeleteIn the letter to Barry:
“This bill has caused such a divisive, derisive and toxic environment,” Ritter wrote, according to the Post. “The reality is that any citizen that disagrees with your administration is targeted and ridiculed.”
“I hesitated to write for fear of some kind of retribution,” he added. “I watched you make fun of tea baggers and your press secretary make fun of Ms. [Sarah] Palin which was especially beneath the dignity of the White House … Do the right thing not the political thing. Suggest a bill that Americans can support.”
Barry's response:
“I … appreciate your concern about the toxic political environment right now. I do have to challenge you, though, on the notion that any citizen that disagrees with me has been ‘targeted and ridiculed’ or that I have ‘made fun’ of tea baggers … [I] defend strongly the right of everyone to speak their mind — including those who call me ‘socialist’ or worse,” Obama wrote.
Okay. And your point? I think the President and his cronies do refer to Tea Party members as Teabaggers on a regular basis and that is why he wrote it the way he did. Are you saying the President deserves a pass because the term was in the original letter to him?
Delete"...and he was, in his own weird little way--sticking up for the rights of tea-baggers to have their opinions (how gracious of him!)."
DeletePerhaps. But I think it is even more condescending that that.
He signed it.
ReplyDeleteUnless, of course, he signs stuff without reading it, which would explain a lot.
Bush hand-wrote letters to the families of fallen soldiers.
ReplyDeleteObama sent form letters to the Seal Team 6 families, but takes time out from rewriting Obamacare code to write personally to object to some random guy's criticism.
Word is he does it with some frequency. I imagine it's got something to do with his narcissism.
DeleteExactly right. Or he will organize a press conference about some Obamacare success involving some individual citizen and then forget all about it when it turns out to be completely false a few days later. As for the person touted earlier...good luck. No help from the White House.
