President Obama has told House Republicans that their compromise proposal is a non starter...
Senate Democrats say screw you moderate GOPers, let the USA go into default...
What will John Boehner do?
I am with Dr. Helen on this: The House and Senate GOP should make a “best and final offer,” then leave town if it’s rejected.

A link, on your Instapundit link, to Scott Rasmussen nails it in succinct fashion. Liberals fear the populace finding out just how little so much of government does or impacts their life on whit.
ReplyDeleteI normally try to be reasonable, even rational, but when I hear and read so much that is the polar opposite of my own personal in government experience, I lean toward: "Let's find out, eh?" In short, make a final offer without tricky amendments with short sighted goals, just a plain proposal to re-open government (that is NOT really closed to begin with) and raise the debt ceiling based upon a defined percentage of cost reductions over the next 5 years at a minimum, with the stipulation that the ceiling is not to be raised again for a decade at a minimum.
Propose it, vote it out to the Senate, and as you say, leave town. No press events, no speeches, just the HR in simple text.
The Republicans have done all they could, so they hold the high ground.
ReplyDeleteThe Demos are so enamored of their own propaganda that the shutdown and a default would ruin the Rs, they can't see it's ruining them.
Let it go. The Demos want it, let them have it.
Literally.
