Well, to be fair they are non-native crickets. Sure, they sound pretty, but bringing in non-native stuff because it looks pretty is how a huge number of ecological disasters have happened.
True, but I am pretty sure they won't make it through the winter.
You suppose other people have said that about other invasive pests? I agree--it's fair to say they'll probably not make it through the winter. But what if they do? Or at least enough to breed. What if it wasn't crickets he had a fondness for? What if it was cane toads? Just because the law as enforced here seems silly, it's still the law, right?
