Harry Reid and the Democrats respond on keeping the government operating: Shut It Down!

House GOP leaders surprised me by actually showing some backbone...
“The American people don’t want a government shut down and they don’t want ObamaCare. That’s why later today, the House will vote on two amendments to the Senate-passed continuing resolution that will keep the government open and stop as much of the president’s health care law as possible.

“The first amendment delays the president’s health care law by one year. And the second permanently repeals ObamaCare’s medical device tax that is sending jobs overseas.

“Both of these amendments will change the date of the Senate CR to December 15th. We will also vote on a measure that ensures our troops get paid, no matter what.

“We will do our job and send this bill over, and then it’s up to the Senate to pass it and stop a government shutdown.”
Obama and Reid do not care, they would rather shut the government down!

  2. Look, I know you're a cow, so head-butting games might seem more attractive to you than,...humans - but even when you know you're going to lose? Didn't any of you read The Art Of War?

This post-Romney madness has got to stop,...

    1. For the record, I had already read Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" and, Bernard Fall's "Street Without Joy" before I enlisted in the Army in 1968. In short, I had a smidgen of understanding of what I was in for and how it might play out. I was very lucky, I came home walkin' and talkin'. Then I read Vo Nguyen Giap's memoirs in sundry iterations and revisions. Seems General Giap had read Tzu and Fall too.

In my opinion, no one in Congress, or the administration, has ever read any of those authors, nor would they understand the implications if they did. I recommend Giap and Tzu for anyone seeking a bit of a grasp on something really important, you know, like Al Qaeda in all its forms. This Presinde t and this Congress will never get it...they just can't, it is impossible for them to do so.

    2. Frankly I think this whole thing is a cluster fuck, on so many levels, but I recognize that the post event spin is important too. We are completely fiscally out of whack. This is not the war, just a minor skirmish.

Pretending like this is going to turn out well is like Steve Jobs doing juice smoothies as his alternative pancreatic cancer treatment.

  3. Full Disclousre: A frigging "Continuing Resolution" CANNOT rescind a previously enacted law of the land...e.g., the PPACA including the Medical Device Tax included there in. A CR is temporary as its title ("continuing") suggests. A CR can briefly delay something, it cannot eradicate it. A CR cannot start something new either (that word again..."continuing"). Oh, and contrary to what virtually everyone in Congress is calling it, both parties, all leaders, a CR is NOT a Budget. The expressed ignorance in the elected denizens of DC is astounding. They'd best go consult some seasoned bureaucrats and get some facts. Said ignorance in a body of people who are mostly lawyers is amazing.
