I would have voted for life without possibility of parole only because I know Nidal Hasan wants to die. And he could spend a few decades as a paraplegic contemplating his crimes. But getting rid of him now is fine too. And he still has mandatory appeals.
My hats off to the Prosecutor's closing statements on this issue. I think his comments nailed the issue directly, and hits my general opinion of the death penalty particular for those who claim to cherish death. An execution isn't giving him his request, it's taking his life.
It's also not too late for him to spend time as a paraplegic.
As for my darkside; I'd drive the point home that he's not being made a martyr. I'd lock him in a room with a feral hog until he dies. In the interim, he'll either decide to kill the hog for food as starvation kicks in; or he'll die of his hunger or injury from the pig that sees him as food.
Are they taking volunteers for the firing squad? I'd be happy to pay my own way there.
ReplyDeleteNo, shooting's to honorable.
ReplyDeleteHave him blown from guns so the birds and beasts of the field consume his remains.
After he's been force fed some bacon.

Now THAT'S an execution I could get behind.
