Actually the whales almost certainly knew where the diver was and what they were doing. They wanted those herring that were boiling to the surface. The whales work together driving them with bubble nets they make and then take turns feeding on the bait ball. But it is a very cool video.
Like being in traffic anywhere, you gotta know where everybody else is.
