ends.
Been reading AA for years
and enjoy the diversity of views in the comments.
Am seriously worried about
this blog suddenly taking the Little Green Footballs route. Maybe turning off
the comments entirely might stave it off. I hope. It seems like her reactions
were getting more extreme as a reflex against other people's reactions, so
maybe a break will be good.
Ann, when I said you were
up to something, but I couldn't tell exactly what, I was going on a hunch based
on your posts as of the last couple of weeks. Now that you've pulled comments,
but relegated them to 'team members' so you've basically created your own
selective pool of commentariats. I cannot fathom how this will be productive
when you have your own peanut gallery. Well, it was interesting while it
lasted, but I think whatever it is you have/had in mind will be more of a
detriment to you than you think. Enjoy the echo chamber.
Oh, well. I have enjoyed
and learned much from many commenters here. There are some very good writers
and thinkers and some very witty characters that i will miss reading and
debating. Others not so much.
Goodness me, what a lot of
nastiness. I must have missed a lot these lovely summer days.
I cannot imagine having
such a public persona as Ms. Althouse, even though I have thoroughly prospered
in it, been informed and engaged by her devotion to post every day, and been
given space to share my own Self.

turns out... despite the
most recent post, the professor's NOT turning the comments back on to honor
judge posner. it's like -- why write it and post it if you're not allowing open
comments.
anyway, my comment to your
latest post is attached below. hope you lick those wounds -- self inflicted,
imo -- and man up and admit you don't value free speech as much as you like to
pretend.
in the end, you're just a
little girl finding solace in the protection of your online daddies it seems...
Don't dish it until you're ready to taste it and eat it yourself. good advice
for men and women too.
Also, can you please
specify the role 'meade' plays in this blog exactly? We've been told he's the
heavy on the delete button, not you, but does he -- and your sons -- comment
under various avatars here, on the 'althouse' performance blog? Is it all you
on display here... except when it's not and other 'althouses' cover for you?
just asking ... please, no more tears today.
and that if you had to start from
scratch all over again you couldn't. 
If someone doesn't like
comments, they don't have to read them. How can anyone be bothered by comments?
Without Freeman, DBQ,
Crack, Bagoh20, ChipAhoy, Synova, edutcher, Methadras, n.n., and many others.,
what's the point? Even Inga has value in bringing out what appears to be
(though I'm not certain), the liberal perspective.
In my view, the value of
this blog has been you open up interesting topics. But when you post on topics
many disagree with you on, such as Gay Marriage, your justification for the
clearly unfair situation with women and children, you become irrational, and
frankly mean. The discussion devolves into ad hominem abuse.
The other topics I find
often have very interesting POVs. Another thought is, why not post on your hot
topic buttons, and let people explore the topics. That was the value to me.
Without it, the blog has much less value.
La la la...Althouse, there
is this thing called intellectual honesty. You should look it up in the
unlinkable OED. I wonder what you have to do to be a "team member."
Agree with Althouse, is my guess. Althouse, we don't hate you, but we do
despise you now. Or, is "contemn" a word, i.e. = "hold in contempt?"
In which case we contemn you. Althouse, when you decide to abort this vanity
project of yours, will you delete all traces of it from Blogspot and the WWW,
or just leave it frozen in amber so we know when you finally lost it? Althouse,
you can't handle the truth. Not on Blogspot you can't. Time for althou.se where
you can seamlessly delete, censor, edit, ban users and their comments with the
fine-grained control of a modern-day Minitrue. I know you're a cheapass but
your ego is worth it, n'est-ce pas? Althouse, apologize and show that you
understand what you did wrong, and maybe we will forgive you and allow you to
make it up to us. Crack will put away the car antenna, won't you, Crack?
Hey...assume it was not a lie...you're not in any danger of losing your job

But...
She's talked big cutting
down the men for weeks. When they return the banter in kind, she runs and
hides, letting her husband reign on what he sees fit to stay up, and what he
deletes.
It's a silly game to her,
but at least there's honesty now, in letting blog readers see how filtered all
the discussion in the comments sections here truly is.
In her classrooms too, for
those potentially seeking out uw law for the 'intellectual honesty' and
'diverse opinions' and 'open discussions' she claims to value there.
Insta made her reputation
on these internets. Let's see if, like the husband, he continues to protect her
and still tosses her the occassional bone in the form of a gratuitous link.
Once she sees the traffic
drop I think this temper tantrum will be very short lived.
This is frustrating. I
don't even care about any of those posts. I just wanted to go on about Egypt
and the tigers of Sumatra.

they have them.

what if a law professor/
student / commenter opined, like althouse did with the men, that any woman who
knowingly exposes her eggs to sperm and finds herself unexpectedly pregnant
should be mocked like she did the men.

a baby for life, and believe like the professor said she does that abortion is
murder, then why not ask why careless women should not be bailed out by
taxpayers for her choice, just like she's arguing men with 'loose splooge' --
ugly language, btw -- should just face up to the life of loserdom they created
for themselves...
do all women need to be

an awful lot of
independent libertarian women would disagree. it's not hard not to get
pregnant, even when you're sexually very active, but of course, that would be
suggesting that men and women are indeed =, and god knows, we can't have
that...

*I'm not getting into details here to embarrass her... but if
you're considering attending uw law school, be aware --- her committment to
diverse opinions and willingness to respectfully discuss alternate opinions is
not as pretty as it would seem from reading her comments policy.
fwiw...
remember-- there's no husband sitting handy with a delete button
in the classroom, and indeed, stronger students tend to push back there too.
she tends to melt or wither upon decent followup when her
opinions are so silly and do not mesh with reality.
she gets away with it though, because too many law students are
young, dumb and full of 'give the pretty proffy what she wants to hear.'

I don't comment but I have enjoyed reading the comments. This
past week it looks like Ann kind of lost it. I am sure it is a shock to
discover that your audience doesn't hold with some 70's feminist notions. I am

some arguments to defend such notions. I for one would love to hear them since
