Dutch art museum decides to put its whole collection on line, in high quality...

These older works were never in copywrite and the theory is if they are owned by public institutions they should be made available to the public.  As a spokesperson for the Rijksmuseum noted, if someone want to put a Vermeer on toilet paper, at least they should put a good version of it.

And it is not just Dutch museums.  Google is working with museums around the world in putting works on line.
