Romney and Christie's secret meeting just prior to CPAC |
Update:
Consultants are bad (our version of the Roman Curia), but fish rot from the head down...
Rand Paul is NOT the problem Bill...
The RNC Report: Blog is the missing word...
Mark Sanford wins for GOP special election in South Carolina?
Losing one's religion, and replacing it with something worse...
This shouldn't surprise me, but it does. It looks like Jeb Bush is the elite GOP leadership's choice as the annointed candidate in 2016.
ReplyDeleteI've met Jeb Bush...though I doubt he'd recognize me. I worked as a volunteer in his '98 campaign. It cost me a tenure track job at a major univiersity...you see Fla's academic 'elites' HATE the Bush's...life goes on.
Of all the Bush family, he's probably the most "real" conservative of the lot. His book on immigration gives out ideas that I could live with...no path to citizen ship without returning to homeland and applying, just like everyone else. Giving illegals residency ONLY. I would go along with that.
HOWEVER...IF he's the chosen of the RNC and their big money backers, those people need to start listening to the grass roots (i.e. Tea Party--and the blogging pundits) or this will go down as the 3rd defeat in a row. I'm not sure that these people can do that, as they look upon bloggers and the Tea Party with more than a little fear.
At this point, I think the only way for the GOP to come out of the minority is to start implementing Instapundit.com's ideas of buying up media outlets and turning them into conservative organizations...that and starting "entertainment" and "women's" websites that cater to low information voters.
Unfortunately, I don't think the people with money in our party have the brains to do this...we ain't known as the "party of stupid" for nothing...

I am not a big fan of Jeb Bush, but well said. I agree completely on your other points.
