Meteorite hits in Central Russia near Urals, causing panic, injuries, and alarm...

Blast wave shatters glass, causes injury and panic, but no major damage.  Russian authorities are searching for a possible crater.  Estimates are 500 people injured.  More at Pravda.

NASA says it was a bolide, which is an exploding fireball.  It is not related to the asteroid that was recently passing by earth.

This looks like a smaller version of what happened at Tunguska, Siberia in 1908.
