Was General Carter Ham relieved of duty for trying to respond to the Benghazi attack in Libya?

From Protein Wisdom:
This, in and of itself, is not terribly noteworthy:
President Barack Obama will nominate Army Gen. David Rodriguez to succeed Gen. Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command and Marine Lt. Gen. John Paxton to succeed Gen. Joseph Dunford as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced Thursday.
But this rumor is very noteworthy, if true.  Granted this is a rumor, but did this change in leadership happen because of this?  Another change is leadership is warranted.

Update:  Drew M. at Ace of Spades HQ says the rumors are just that, rumors (the rumor about General Ham is the second part).  Yet Gateway Pundit and RedState are reporting on it.  I would caution this is a breaking story and is not confirmed.

That said, either way, it does not change my sentiments as noted below.

Prior Posts:
Joe Biden is unfit to be CIC (so is Barack Obama)
Was there an AC 130 gunship available or flying over Benghazi at the time of the attack?

Update:
Instapundit notes:

#BENGHAZI: “The stunning part of the story is that Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty killed 60 of the attacking force. Once the compound was overrun, the attackers were incensed to discover that just two men had inflicted so much death and destruction.” Just think how much could have been accomplished if they’d had the support of their Commander-in-Chief.
