There were warnings 48 hours before attacks in Egypt and Libya, but the White House did not give warning to State Department personnel in country...

The Inside Story of the U.S. Envoy's Assassination:
According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.

The blame for this goes to the White House and ultimately to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in not recognizing the threat that these diplomats and U.S. personnel on the ground were facing.
Senior officials are increasingly convinced, however, that the ferocious nature of the Benghazi attack, in which rocket-propelled grenades were used, indicated it was not the result of spontaneous anger due to the video, called Innocence of Muslims. Patrick Kennedy, Under-Secretary at the State Department, said he was convinced the assault was planned due to its extensive nature and the proliferation of weapons.
There is growing belief that the attack was in revenge for the killing in a drone strike in Pakistan of Mohammed Hassan Qaed, an al-Qa'ida operative who was, as his nom-de-guerre Abu Yahya al-Libi suggests, from Libya, and timed for the anniversary of the 11 September attacks.

Update:
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney denies that there was any prior warning, but he is being deliberately evasive:
Breitbart's John Nolte reports:  Democrat Senators contradict White House on prior notice before Libya attack.
Video: Jake Tapper Grills Carney On Embassy Warning, Rest of Media Show No Interest
This is a pretty remarkable piece of video, as is this, but the transcript provided at Tapper's Political Punch fills in the blanks.
Two points: The first is how careful Carney's language is when discussing the news that the White House might have been warned about the embassy attacks in advance. Notice how Carney keeps his answer in the realm of "actionable intelligence" and intelligence that could "prevent" theattacks. He doesn't say there was "no" warning or "no" intelligence. And as we already know, there were threats from al-Qaeda against Americans in Libya just a day or two before we lost four Americans.
You have to watch the videos linked above again, especially the second, to understand my second point. Tapper did his best to grill Carney and pin him down, but he was on his own. Look at the other White House correspondents in that room. Not a single one has any energy and certainly no desire to get to the bottom of the only question that should matter today: Were the murders of these four Americans preventable?

Other than Tapper, no one wants the answer and they're not even willing to make news in pushing for an answer.
Might hurt Obama.
CNN is reporting Libyans warned US of attack three days in advance...

  1. EBL, when I saw your link I had just tweeted mine to Laura Ingraham. This is exactly what I think happened. They bombed the Benghazi consulate in June but couldn't do any damage. It's a fake about the film, but it fits Obama and Clinton like a glove.

Last night when I finished my article I tweeted both Limbaugh's, Hannity, Malkin, Coulter, - everyone I could think of. Then had to be out most of the day so missed everything, but I don't think anyone has gotten the message that they tried to bomb the same complex in June over Abu Yahaya al-Libi.

I see the UK came out with this report. I beat them to it-:) but no once cares:-) Note that we didn't learn about Abu Yahaya until it was released to the US on Sept. 11th. I think they said DNA testing had been underway. It all broke at the same time.

    1. Good catch. That also fits with the "Obama, Obama, there are still a billion Osamas" and "Death to Obama" chants at these attacks. The film was just icing to fire up the local populations (and I heard but have not confirmed it was run on Egyptian TV, which is of course state controlled).

  2. Cute little jokes about this creep are no longer appropriate.
People are dying. Ask the Terry family.
