The death of pretty...

Pretty
Hot, but not pretty.

Pretty
Definitely not pretty.
Not particularly original.

Tina Korbe at Hot Air cited this article.   Pretty is definitely not dead (as Ms. Korbe demonstrates) but it is definitely in decline.  But as the Virginia Slims ads used to say "You've come a long way baby."  Unfortunately, in many ways, it is not a particularly good destination.  This is something worth discussing and thinking about as we go into a new year.

I encourage you to read the whole thing.  Pretty vs. Not Pretty (nor hot).

Update: The Conservatory on Why Modesty Matters...

  1. The word "pretty" sounds young and inconsequential. Like something that won't endure. And . . . too close to the word "petty" for comfort.

Beautiful, on the other hand, gets at something that may well matter. And class is the hardest to attain, but it may well be the most worthwhile.

    1. I like the term beautiful too. It has more substance to it. I agree.
