I like movies set in the late sixties and seventies. It was a huge transitional point for movies. While I liked the style details and sound track of this film, it was way too long and should have been edited to a reasonable length (and a stronger story).
If Quentin Tarantino wanted to do an extended character study (with lots of pop and cultural references), he should have done a cable mini series (which of course would have been a kick in the teeth to the whole movie industry). It would have been better product in the end.
Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio do a great job acting. It is a buddy movie, of sorts. Many of the scenes work really well (excellent writing and acting), but due to the editing these stitched together scenes do not work well together.
If you are a big Quentin Tarantino fan, you will probably like it. Most other people will find it too long and disjointed.
