This is not fair, since a lot of the gilets jaunes are really the good guys...but not all of them.
I was going to comment again about the French gas wars, but it is not a matter of scarcity of gasoline--there is plenty of oil and gas. The yellow jacket protests are about oppressive carbon taxes and bureaucratic tyranny in the EU.
The gilets jaunes protesters are not your typical French rioters such as un-assimilated North Africans or anarchists (although there are elements of that too). They are rural and suburban French middle and working class saying no more to this EU nanny state nonsense.
