I am calling BS on this supposed test of gun laws by Gaby Gifford's husband Mark Kelly...Update: This story is stinkier than an Astronaut's adult diaper after a non-stop cross country trip.

Astronaut Mark Kelly: Hypocrite?

Mark Kelly is married to now retired Congressperson Gabby Giffords.  I am sorry for what they went through and if he wants to be for more restrictive gun ownership, that is his right and prerogative.  Although many people who have been impacted by violent crime often go out and arm themselves afterwards. Which raises the question: was Mark Kelly actually buying an AR 15 for himself or was he really engaging in a "test" of gun back ground checks?  

Mark Kelly has no criminal background and would under any background scenario I could imagine appear to be a law abiding mentally stable individual (we assume astronauts are more stable than the general public, although there was that Astronaut diaper incident a few years back).  So what is his point?  That in Arizona a law abiding citizen can purchase a 1911 .45 handgun and an AR-15?  We know Arizona gun laws are not quite as restrictive as say...New York City or Chicago.  Mark Kelly only said he would turn it over to Tucson PD after it was discovered he purchased it.  

And while covered by pro second amendment groups, why is the media not calling Mark Kelly out of this?  If reversed, and this involved hypocrisy of a conservative position and a conservative public figure, does anyone doubt the media would ignore such a story.
