  1. Interesting story on this.

It was inspired by Fascist use of Fifth Columnists (in the Spanish Civil War, Franco noted he would take Madrid with 4 columns advancing on the city, but he also had a fifth column of infiltrators already inside it) to infiltrate and attack countries from within when invaded by Germany. It was feared the many Japanese on the West Coast might do the same thing.

While almost all AJAs, as they were known were loyal, a Japanese secret society known as the Black Dragon which had infiltrated every country in the Western Hemisphere and was gearing up to carry out Black Lives Matter-style disruption and sabotage in the US.

The internment gave the government the chance to ID these people.

  2. True dat.

Some Germans and Italians were also picked up in WWII, but nothing like what the Huns faced under Woody.

Consider - Eisenhower, Kreuger, Eichelberger, Wedemeyer, Greunther, Stratemeyer, Nimitz, Spaatz, Mitscher - how many generals would not have been allowed to serve under somebody like Woody.
