Bill Clinton admits on September 10, 2001 that he could have killed Osama Bin Laden but choose not to do so to avoid civilian casualties

Ace and Hot Air are reporting on this.   If the choice was really killing Osama Bin Laden, but having to kill 300 civilians to do so (and remember this is before 9/11) it is hard to criticize this (in hindsight). This is Bill Clinton framing it that way.

How did this manage not to become news before now? How bizarre that this admission was made just hours before 9/11 unfolded?

[A]ccording to Michael Scheuer, Clinton’s administration had “about 10 chances” to kill Bin Laden in 1998 and 1999 and passed on all of them because the intelligence supposedly wasn’t good enough. I’d also like to know more specifics of what Clinton says here about his best shot at OBL. He says he could have taken him out in a “little town” called Kandahar in Afghanistan but would have killed 300 people in the process. But Kandahar’s not a little town; it’s a city, population 500,000. Is he thinking, perhaps, of … Tarnak Farms? Tarnak Farms was located near Kandahar but it wasn’t a “little town.” It was Bin Laden’s training camp for terrorists. There may have been women and children there, but you could have cut a swath through AQ by bombing it at the time. In fact, the CIA might have had Osama himself onscreen from drone surveillance in 2000; drones weren’t equipped with missiles at the time, but an airstrike could have been called in. Is that what Clinton’s thinking of here? Any enterprising reporters out there want to ask him?

Transplanted Pennsylvanian West Virginian Freaks! With bonus Fifty Shades of Grey Trailer Rule 5

Most West Virginians were probably happy these freaks were transplants from Pennsylvania.  Take that Ohio, Pennsylvania is taking you on for weirdness!  Of course, this would be perfectly acceptable and tame behavior at the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco.  Community Standards!

Of course with this book selling 100 million copies and the trailer getting millions of hits, mainstream community standards are definitely falling…

Did Chris Kyle's attorneys screw up?
"I think it's a strategic error," said David Schultz, a professor of law and political science at Hamline University in St. Paul. "I'm surprised that the defense agreed to it."
Schultz said the defense had nothing to lose with a hung jury. If the jury couldn't reach a verdict, Ventura would have had to pay to retry the case. That could have cost him much more than $100,000 in additional costs.

16 Japanese Whalers eaten alive by Orcas? Update: Too good to be true, story reported to be a hoax... (yes, I know that is shocking)

The crew of the MV Nisshin Maru (日新丸), Japan’s primary whaling vessel and the world’s only whaler factory ship, was forced to leave the deck temporarily as a gas leak was detected within the ship’s processing factory that resulted in the ship being temporarily disabled all while continuing to carry approximately 1,000 tons of oil.
The resulting panic lead members of the ship to jump off the boat before proper emergency procedures were taken and lifeboats had been set to sea. The swimming crew members were then ferociously attacked by a school of killer whales, that decimated a large number of the crew within moments. “It was horrific” claims Asuka Kumara, a mechanical engineer who witnessed the gruesome scene. “The water was red with blood, there were bodies everywhere” he recalls in tears.
