The Girandoni air rifle and its use by the Corps of Discovery...

This has been reported before by other bloggers, but I saw a comment over at the Blogmocracy that reminded me of it so it is worth posting it again.

Joe Scarborough has a little list...

MSNBC suggested that a crowd of supporters were dissing Mitt Romney and chanting Ryan, Ryan, Ryan.  In reality they were chanting for Romney and Romney tried to get the crowd to join in for Ryan.  A basic non controversy transformed editorially (in bad faith) by MSNBC in an attempt to damage Romney.  Joe Scarborough jumped right in to mock Romney for something that never happened (playing along for his MSNBC masters).

When called out on it, Scarborough said he is keeping a little list of those who are calling him on this.
Well here is Joe Scarborough discussing his little list...

Paraphrasing from the video clip above:  Morning Joe has a little list, he's as funny as a cyst... he never will be missed...and it's about time he kissed my fist.

Or is Morning Joe a victim of Stockholm Syndrome?

Update:  Working for MSNBC has gone to Scarborough's head.

About those political polls...

There is good news and bad news...

The bad news is Barack Obama is currently ahead.

The good news is the bad news is not that bad. Romney and Ryan are not getting blown out by 10 points in critical swing states.  It is a tight race and it should start breaking for Romney the closer we get to the election.

Michael Barone gives his explanation of why this skewering of some of the polls is happening.

Update:
The Blogmocracy notes even the pollsters do not agree with each other...
Jim Geraghty:  Close election, Romney slightly behind... (at least right now)

Barack Obama's Economy Sucks! Final Q2 numbers well below estimates...

Elizabeth Warren's supporters are abandoning her: She has a real problem doing legal work in Massachusetts without a Massachusetts bar license...

The League of Ordinary Gentlemen acknowledges that Elizabeth Warren may have a serious problem...
Elizabeth Warren was charging $675 an hour to help insurance companies get cases dismissed against injured union workers exposed to asbestos.  If Scott Brown did anything similar he would be vilified by the Democrats in Massachusetts.  Yet it is okay for Elizabeth Warren to have done this?

But it is worse than that as Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection has been pointing out.  Elizabeth Warren should have been licensed in Massachusetts to do this work.  There is a very good chance that Elizabeth Warren was inactive in Texas and New Jersey (the only two states she is licensed in) when she did this work.  There are real issues here that Elizabeth Warren is refusing to answer.

Elizabeth Warren's campaign site still (at least as of now) has nothing on these allegations.  Elizabeth Warren did suspend her New Jersey attorney license on September 11, 2012.  Suspension means if she wants it back she has to take the bar again, this is not the same as going inactive.  Why would she do that unless she thought that people were coming after her on this issue?

Oktoberfest 2012 -- München mag Dich, Sie lieben Regel 5

As Andy Williams used to sing:  It's That Most Wonderful Time of the Year!  And if you love the sublime combination of water, barley malt, hops, and yeast, lagered to perfection, this is that time of year for you!  Oktoberfest in Munich!  And there is plenty of Rule 5 spirit too.
The beer tent!

This is just a Halloween costume, but what the heck!  Have some Oktoberfest at home!

Guess who are about to join the ranks of the unemployed? The NFL reaches a deal with the locked out Refs!

Hey Replacement Refs:  See ya!

What do you get when you combine Iowahawk's tweets with Matt Drudge's interplay of stories and images? Awesomeness!

Bravo Mr. Iowahawk!

Now compare those great tweets to this:
Bravo Mr. Drudge!
I am sure Sarah Palin would
approve of all this winking!

Kidding (about young Mitt Romney), actually Andy Williams with the Osmond Family...

RIP Andy Williams.

Update:  The Macho Response has this classic.

This is horrible and heartbreaking...

Gone.  This is just horrible.
It is stories like this that just fill you with rage.  I am generally pretty hard on the cops when they shoot people's dogs without provocation (puppycide is often reported at the Agitator), but that parents would leave their child with a dog like this and get so involved in their own dispute that this would happen?  I do not know what to say.

The Obama Administration knew within 24 hours that the Benghazi, Libya attack was pre-planned and were done by al Qaeda, but still continued to lie to the American public for over a week about it...Why?

Why did President Barack Obama and the White House lie to the American people and the world about the Benghazi attack and the murder of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans?  There is no way Susan Rice and Jay Carney would go out say what they said (officially on behalf of the Administration) without Obama Administration approval.

The White House knew within 24 hours that the attack was preplanned and staged by al Qaeda.  It had nothing to do with that video.  It was intended to be on September 11 and was done to avenge U.S. drone strikes on al Qaeda leadership.

Why did the Obama Administration lie? Because the Obama Administration and State Department were warned of the attacks and did not take appropriate steps. And as a result Ambassador Stevens, Glen Doherty, Tyrone Wood, and Sean Smith were killed.  They wanted the blame to be on something unforeseen.  That is why the Obama Administration lied.

Blind Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman will remain in U.S. prison...

Egypt's new President Morsi was pressing hard for the release of the "Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdul Rahman, who was behind the first World Trade Center van bombing and who is serving a life sentence in the United States.  It was feared that President Obama might release Rahman on "humanitarian grounds" to gain favor with the Muslim Brotherhood led government in Egypt.   There was a waive of Americans (not only conservatives) who protested this.  The White House responses were initially equivocal over its intentions in regard to Rahman...
Obama Administration finally gives in to pressure
and confirms Rahman will not be released.

Why did Elizabeth Warren resign from the New Jersey State Bar on September 11, 2012?

So for years "consumer protection advocate" Elizabeth Warren actually represented large insurance companies, making hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees (while collecting her $350,000 a year salary at Harvard).  Warren helped Travelers get dismissed asbestos claims of injured union workers, and then had the gall to say she supports those same workers!

As noted by Professor Jacobson of Cornell University, Elizabeth Warren was not admitted to the bar of Massachusetts, yet did this side line practice for years in Massachusetts.
What is Elizabeth Warren hiding?  Why is she lying to Massachusetts voters?

While the date of termination of her New Jersey license is not on the website, telephone inquiries to the New Jersey Board of Bar Examiners and the New Jersey Lawyers Fund For Client Protection indicated that Warren resigned her license on September 11, 2012 (one of the people remarked to me “that’s a memorable day”). It’s odd that in the middle of a campaign Warren would take the time to resign her New Jersey Bar membership, particularly since she would have to retake the Bar exam to be readmitted.
Neither office in New Jersey could state whether her license was continuously active until her resignation because the computer only shows the current status, so I have made the request in writing as instructed. By resigning her New Jersey license earlier this month, Warren made it more difficult for the public to determine her pre-resignation status.
Sounds like someone with something to hide.

A blessed Yom Kippur to all...

Free Nice Deb: Come on Word Press let this blogger go...

She is called Nice Deb for a reason.   Stacy McCain and Instapundit are trying to get Word Press attention.

Update:  Nice Deb is back up.  Thanks WP.

What was President Obama trying to say with the phrase: "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam..."

Think of all the great quotes that Presidents have made over the past 225 years. Many of them are things of beauty.  How about this one from our first president:
"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
George Washington
Now consider this quote from President Barack Obama today at the United Nations:
President Obama: "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam."
Really Mr. President?  Any Christian has technically slandered Mohammed...
The President also ignored his own advice:  The best response to a video like that is to ignore it.

Bob Belvedere absolutely nails it with this observation:
Now, tell me, who phrases a sentence that way?
Not someone who believes in Western Civilization, that’s for damn sure.
Congressman Allen West takes a different tack than the President.

Update: Jeff Goldstein, ever the diplomat, offers his quiet advice: If Romney said during the debates that he’d not give another fucking dime to countries whose officials put hits out on American citizens — and challenged Obama to do the same — the stumbling pablum dribbler would shit his multiculti boxer briefs.  Actually, this would be a game changer for Romney if he challenged Obama on this (he could change a word perhaps).

President Obama and his Administration, by the way, have refused to denounce this demonstration of "art":
Obama respects the art, not the underlying image being mocked...

Madonna endorses Obama as the "Black Muslim in the White House"

Stay classy Madonna!
Madonna:  “Y’all better vote for fucking Obama, okay?” she said during a brief intermission. “For better or for worse, alright? We have a black Muslim in the White House. Now that’s some shit. That’s some amazing shit. It means there’s hope in this country.”
I do not think Obama is a Muslim, Obama is a socialist who is wrecking the country.  Although some Obama supporters (other than Madonna) think he is a Mormon?

Update:  Althouse says Madonna was being edgy?  Oh yeah, right. While Madonna has been pretty savvy in promoting herself over the years and being a performer, I would not think of her as "smart" on anything beyond her own career (and I would question a lot of that too).  So does Madonna and Hillary have IQs higher than Ann Althouse?  And who says Mitt Romney's is 130 to 139?  And what is Barack Obama's IQ?    All I know is most Mensa members have social skills and common sense quotients that are sub moron.

Andrew Sullivan promises us a bright future over the next four years...

The reality of waving Obama flags is a bit different than the dream...

Does even Andrew Sullivan believe this nonsense?
[Obama] will become the Democrats’ Reagan. The narrative writes itself. He will emerge as an iconic figure who struggled through a recession and a terrorized world, reshaping the economy within it, passing universal health care, strafing the ranks of al-Qaeda, presiding over a civil-rights revolution, and then enjoying the fruits of the recovery …
And unlike Clinton’s constant triangulating improvisation, Obama has been playing a long, strategic game from the very start—a long game that will only truly pay off if he gets eight full years to see it through. That game is not only changing America. It may also bring his opposition, the GOP, back to the center, just as Reagan indelibly moved the Democrats away from the far left.
The Howard Stern interviews were bad enough, but at least you could explain those by the ignorance and lack of following the news of the people being interviewed.   How do you explain the delusion that Andrew Sullivan, who still considers himself a supporter of Reagan and Thatcher, is operating under?

Update:
Madonna thinks Obama is a Muslim.

Howard Stern: Interviews in Harlem about Election 2012

Q.  Should we kill Osama bin Laden?
A.  He should be tortured, I just don't believe in killing...

Wow.
Howard Stern contributors Sal and Richard travel to Harlem to interview Obama supporters and ask them why they are voting for Obama.

Stern and his crew ask denizens of Harlem various outrageous questions, including if they believe Obama will find and kill Osama bin Laden; if Romney is a Muslim and if Obama is a Mormon; if Obama made the right choice by picking Paul Ryan as his running mate and if he did it because he is black.
One interviewee was under the impression that 2008 Republican nominee John McCain is also running this time.

"Just trust me, not one person knew that Osama bin Laden was dead," Stern said during the segment.

"Well, we're obviously dealing with a whole population that doesn't listen to the newscasts or read a newspaper," co-host Robin Quivers said.

The scab NFL refs were the 12th man tonight...

Update:

Update:
Chaos
Want to know my favorite statistic of Week 3 before Monday? Sixteen of 20 coach's challenges resulted in overturned calls, meaning officials made the wrong decision on 80% of some of the biggest plays. Think about that.
Want to know my second-favorite statistic? When you crunch the numbers, if the NFL gave the locked-out referees everything they wanted, it would cost about $100,000 extra per team per season. That equals about four games' pay for one of a team's lowest-paid players. The owners are watching their sport burn because they won't improve the officials' compensation by about one-fourth the amount they would pay a backup guard? Think about that.
OK, real quick, I've got a third-favorite statistic from last weekend. There were 13 penalty first downs in the game between the Patriots and the Ravens, which is only the most in the history of the NFL.
Rush Limbaugh explains how NFL review of touchdowns works:
So they reviewed it, and people don't understand how the replay works. The replay, the review, does not determine possession. It just determined did the ball hit the ground, everybody in bounds. The call on the field was a touchdown. That's not reversed, but they're just making sure that it was a score. It's just the way the replay rule is written. It's not to determine possession or any of that, this new rule on every touchdown being reviewed, it's just to make sure the play was clean. The call on the field stands.
Not ready for the Lingerie Football League...

Elizabeth Warren practiced law without a license in Massachusetts?

Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection  has a great post that voters in Massachusetts should see. Elizabeth Warren made hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees working for insurance companies against asbestos victims in Massachusetts (consider the hypocrisy of Warren who claims to be a consumer protection advocate representing insurance companies).  The bigger problem is Elizabeth Warren was not licensed to practice law in Massachusetts (Warren is not a member of the Massachusetts bar). It is possible she could have been admitted for a single case if she was a member of another state bar, but there is no evidence that occurred.

The Democratic Underground is starting to panic.  Elizabeth Warren admits on the radio she had no law license in Massachusetts.  Breitbart has more.

Update:  Above the Law suggest that Warren was just a "legal clerk" and not subject to the rule.  Whether she filed pleadings or not remains to be seen.  ATL makes it clear its like Elizabeth Warren.  As far as federal trial courts goes, typically a federal court sitting in a state requires attorneys in front of it to be members of the state bar of that state or at least apply for approval to appear if not members.  And guess what, that is required in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts too.  So if Warren did appear in that case, she needed to apply pro hac vice first.

Update:
Professor Jacobson on the radio about Elizabeth Warren and the unauthorized practice of law.
Elizabeth Warren charged $675 an hour for her legal work.

Elizabeth Warren lied about being Native American and used that lie to get preferential hiring treatment at Harvard.  Now we find out she may have been practicing law without a license in Massachusetts, which is a criminal act.

Barack Obama: Ambassador Steven's death and the sacking of that U.S. consulate villa were just "bumps in the road..."

Road bumps?  Stevens was a Road bump?  Those other three Americans who were murdered are road bumps?  Your words Mr. President.  Hot Air and the Weekly Standard have more...

Meanwhile Robert Gibbs Fibbs is saying the Obama Administration did not lie or mislead on denying that the Libya attack was a planned terrorist operation.   This is despite the fact that Libyan officials said they gave the US prior notice of the attack.  And the only reason Barack Obama is getting away with this is only a few in the media are calling him on these lies.  For example: CBS cuts out when Barack Obama admits his campaign has said untrue things about Mitt Romney (hey, he has an election to win).  While the White House denounces a YouTube clip hardly anyone saw (making it more notorious and making the situation more volatile around the Muslim world) it accepts a million dollar donation from a guy who made an anti Islam film!

The White House and Barack Obama, however, have lashed out at CNN for publishing that Ambassador Stevens was concerned about being targeted in Libya, but the bigger questions remain unanswered by President Obama:

  • Why the State Department did not gather all remaining papers from the scene of Steven's death?
  • What is being done to protect those Libyans who were working with the USA (whose names al Qaeda got when it over ran the house in Benghazi)?
  • What were Stevens and those CIA agents doing in Benghazi?
  • Why was Ambassador Stevens without security when they knew Libya was dangerous, especially on the anniversary of September 11?
  • Why were Stevens and the CIA agents targeted by al Qaeda?

Surprising reaction to Jimmy Kimmel asking at the Emmy show: "Who is voting for Mitt Romney?"

I did not bother to watch the Emmy show last night but The Blaze had this:

Jimmy's response does not make a lot of sense. I have not seen a voice tally like that since the DNC in Charlotte!

Peak Civilization?

I am skeptical on the theory.  But unfortunately, the out come (at least in part) is possible.

The peak oil part I am not buying because as prices rise, alternatives arise too. It may come one day (and we may get a taste of it if Israel and Iran go at it), but a collapse of petroleum is not coming soon.

But the debt part of this theory is real and is unsustainable.  Will society break down completely?  I doubt it.  Much of the debt are things like Medicare, social security and other entitlements.  If they go they go.  People will suffer terribly (mostly seniors) in the west, but life will go on.  In the developing world, however, things will get very grim indeed.

President Morsi says Egypt will not play by American rules...

Okay.   Just be prepared not to play with American money.
I have no problem with Egypt being its own sovereign country.  But we should not subsidize positions we disagree with.  Egypt could have a thriving economy.  It could be like the Asian Tigers, or for that matter Dubai and the Emirates, if it chose to do so.  But decades of socialist policies and rampant corruption have stifled any chance Egypt had to prosper.  Israel is a red herring.  The fundamentalists are in power not because of Mubarak being pro Israel (that is a lie because if Mubarak was pro Israel it was only because he did not fight a war with Israel while he was in office)--but because Egypt's economy is a basket case.  If the Muslim Brotherhood does not deliver a better economy to Egyptians, that party will be out of office too.

Mubarak's claim on power was trying to get growth to keep up with the Egyptian population  and keeping the Egyptian Army happy.  If Morsi wants to go on a new path, let him.  But giving him aid is not going to mitigate harm it will be just feeding the problem.  And Obama has to make that absolutely clear that the U.S. will cut off aid (we should have done that with the September 11, 2012 protests).

Egyptians governments using anger against Israel to deflect anger against the regime is an old tactic.  China is doing the exact same thing with Japan, to cover for its economy slowing.  We will never bail out China.  We do live in interesting times.

Update:
I agree that peace is possible in the Middle East, but we are not going to get there with the way Barack Obama has set it up.

The Obama Administration lied about Libya and now wants to blame CNN for Obama's failure to protect Ambassador Stevens

Two days ago Hillary Clinton said there was no sign Ambassador Stevens was a target.  Well that is not true, Ambassador Steven's own journal (which CNN found in the wreckage of the consulate building) shows that.  And now the White House/State Department is attacking CNN for noting Ambassador Steven's journal showed he feared for his safety. Talk about shooting first and aiming later.  The White House brazenly lied for a week about this and (with the exception of Fox and CNN) the mainstream media is mostly ignoring that.  What is the White House trying to cover up?

The question is: Why could CNN find the journal before the State Department and White House?  Couldn't they secure the site after the attack?  And it is not like CNN is releasing anything personal, other than he feared for his safety which is obviously an issue of public concern.  The White House is upset is is caught in another lie.  The White House and State Department did not care about Ambassador Steven's safety and the other American personnel before the attack and they certainly do not care about him now--they only care about themselves and how this plays politically.

Michelle Malkin is right, these chin pullers should not be trusted.  But you have to be careful not to hurt their feelings, because they are very fragile.  And watch out Bill Kristol, you could easily end up on this list.  Update:  Kristol on Fox News Sunday did advise Romney to hit Obama on foreign policy which (while obvious) is good advice.

Matt Lewis wants to be on the list so people will pay attention to him.

These three are so busy helping the left and Obama supporters trash Romney that we are missing all of this analysis:
We should all be very glad that we have a Democratic president right now; otherwise the news would be terrible. We would be seeing a rash of horrible and depressing stories in the newspapers about strategic failure, with unremitting second guessing and belittling of a president who agonized for months before the surge and then saw his plan fail. We’d be hearing non-stop reports in the media about the incompetent and klutzy leader who torpedoed his own policy by announcing a withdrawal date; the man who tried to please everybody and do everything—and failed at all he tried...
