Denny Hastert: What exactly is he being accused of?

Hastert back in the day as a wrestling coach, top left

I am no fan of Hastert, but why the feds though public indictment (given that what this appears to be is Hastert trying to avoid embarrassment and not doing anything criminal) speaks volumes to the double standard and corrupt politics. Hillary Clinton commits crimes that are overt and related to her office and there is nothing, yet they are going after Hastert for withdrawing his own money from the bank?

Tomorrow is Nelson Riddle's birthday. Nelson Riddle orchestrated Witchcraft with Frank Sinatra in the studio in 1957, 1963, and in 1993. Here is Frank Sinatra backed by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.

National Public Radio blames Barack Obama for the rise of ISIS and the fall of Ramadi?

No, of course NPR would never criticize President Obama, Barack Obama is not even mentioned in this article. Still this story is amazing for NPR (and you should listen to the whole thing) because the blame for ISIS's rise and collapse of Ramadi in Iraq cannot be blamed on anyone but Barack Obama and his Administration's policies of abandoning Iraq to Iran.
Journalist Ayman Oghanna with Iraqi Gen.Fadhil Barwari

Scott Simon: U.S. Secretary of Defense [Ash] Carter said last weekend that Iraqi forces in Ramadi ... had "no will to fight." Was that your impression?Ayman Oghanna: No, that's totally false. The unit I was embedded with, the Golden Division, were Iraq special forces, and they were the most capable, disciplined military organization in the history of the modern Iraqi state. And in many ways they were failed perhaps more by America's strategy than by their own will to fight. ...
When the so-called Islamic State had its offensive through Iraq last year, the regular Iraqi army and police crumbed and melted away. In their place, the only effective fighting force, and the fighting force that was closest to the United States, was the Golden Division and ISOF, Iraqi Special Forces, set up by the U.S. Special Forces.
But you have to understand that a Special Forces unit is meant to do certain things. They are guys you want to use for precision offensive operations, like, you know, helicoptering into Syria and taking some guy out. But since the Iraqi army crumbled they were basically forced to do the job of the entire military. And that included being spread very thinly over a huge area, holding defensive positions against ISIS. When I was on the ground with them they complained about a lack of U.S. air strikes. And when I was there I did not see many air strikes.
This exchange in particular between Scott Simon and embedded journalist (in Iraqi special force unit) Ayman Oghanna is telling:

You're probably familiar enough with the U.S. policy debate to know that for a lot of Americans, priority No. 1. is, "No American boots on the ground."Why?
Well, because a lot of Americans feel that enough Americans have died for Iraq already.Died for what?
I think a lot of American servicemen and their families who lost lives and comrades in Iraq are feeling pretty disappointed that we're pulling out and almost letting them die in vain by not following through.
I mean, make no mistake, we are at war with the so-called Islamic State. Even if you don't think so, the Islamic State thinks that it's at war with us. And it wants to strike us everywhere it can. Inside America, inside Europe. And so we either fight them in Syria and Iraq, or we fight them somewhere else.

Petra Nemcova and Bill Clinton Charity Gala Hypocrisy Rule 5

Rush Limbaugh: Clinton Family Fraud

The timing of these awards is particularly absurd. According to the news website “Tout Haiti”, earlier this April, two prominent lawyers have petitioned Haiti’s Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes to demand an audit of Bill Clinton’s management of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC). A federal audit, conducted by the US Government Accountability Office and released on October 9th, 2013, raised major concerns about the USAID’s recent work in Haiti, particularly on Clinton-backed projects.[v]
But there is a deeper issue than alleged missing funds, mismanagement, and shoddy, incomplete aid projects. The deeper issue is Clinton’s agenda for “development” in Haiti: a strategy that is not really healthy development at all, but rather mal-development in the service of corporate exploitation of the country’s resources and people. Expanding this corporate-driven mal-development was a central agenda for Clinton in the 1990s, just as it is for the Obama Administration today.

Petra and Sean in Haiti (Hillary was there too)

Despite the promises of up to 65,000 jobs at the site, and projections of possibly 133,000 more jobs through related cottage industries, the Caracol project has drawn much skepticism.
Critics say it’s not much different from the factories to make baseballs for the U.S. sport that were built in the 1970s and 1980s under the regime of playboy dictator Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier.
Those jobs prompted thousands of farmers to leave their fields for the capital, and agricultural areas suffered from neglect. Shantytowns like Cite Soleil emerged to house the new workers. The factories got tax breaks but there was no income to offset Duvalier’s alleged plundering of state coffers.
Haiti was supposed to become the “Taiwan of the Caribbean” but instead suffered through economic collapse brought on by political instability.
“This is: Been there, done that,” Alex Dupuy, a Haiti-born sociologist who teaches at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, said of the Caracol project.
Because of the tenants’ tax breaks, outside investors will have more to gain than Haitians, he said.
“This is not a strategy that is meant to provide Haiti with any measure of sustainable development ... The only reason those industries come to Haiti is because the country has the lowest wages in the region,” Dupuy said.

Frank Sinatra: Somewhere My Love

Unlike Stormy Weather, or the favorite Quincy Jones and Nelson Riddle orchestrated standards, this one probably will not end up on Mark, Bob or Pundette's top 100 lists. Not exactly the balalaika version that Maurice Jarre composed for Doctor Zhivago, but it has its own Sinatra charm. While I am not instantly transported to a snow and frost covered dacha in Russia, I can see myself sitting in a smoky Vegas showroom!

Frank Sinatra: Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather is a Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler standard that has been performed by many artists. Frank Sinatra has to my knowledge recorded it three times. Each of these versions are very different from each other, from Sinatra's treatment and age/quality of his voice and the orchestration. The first from 1944 is haunting, the second from 1959 poignant, the third from 1984 is a more upbeat musical version of a lyrically sad song, as if the passage of time has soften the blow.

The 1944 recording.

The 1959 recording.

The 1984 recording with Quincy Jones for LA Is My Lady, a later Sinatra-Jones collaboration after Sinatra at the Sands

Game of Thrones: The Gift: Season 5: Episode 7

Yes there are spoilers, so if you haven't seen it and don't want to know, stop reading now.  As Game of Throne episodes go, this is one of the best.

There were a number of significant plot twists that are deviating (a bit) from the books.

This is the biggest: Daenerys and Tyrion finally meet
Where will this go?

Cersei, like Barack Obama, learns it is dangerous to empower religious fanatics (with Marxist tendencies):

Bronn learns that a good singing voice and a complement will get you what you really need:

No, not that…

That is a beautifully framed shot

Following the disturbing marriage of Ramsay and Sansa, friends in the North are on the decline right now (how will they deal with Sansa, Stannis, the Boltons and the Battle of Winterfell)…

Winter is Coming (is Stannis, Brienne, or Littlefinger)?

Or will Sansa, in response to Ramsay, stand up for herself and take her fate in her own hands?
